Any special ocassion like a homecoming or wedding is important for any women. You want to make sure you do your makeup to where it lasts all day.
If you're palnning on doing your own makeup be sure to have everyhting ready and use products you've used before because the last thing you need is to experiment with products you've never used before. So here are some tips on how to choose the right makeup for your special day and what products you should stay away from.
Foundation- Choosing the right foundation for your skin can be a bit stressful. One thing to remember when choosing a foundation is to know what your skin undertone is. Undertone is basically the underlying tone of your skin which never changes. To find out what undertone you are, do an easy test. One of the things I was taught while in cosmetology school was to try on silver and gold jewelry. If you think you look better in gold jewelry that means you have a warm undertone and a foundation with a yellow hue. If you look better in silver that means your undertone is cool and a foundation with a pink hue will look better on you. If both silver and gold looks good on you that means you have a neutral undertone and you can wear a foundation with pink and yellow.
Don't forget to test your makeup in artificial and natural lighting. Because you want to look good at all times in all the picture taking. Also, believe it or not avoid any products with SPF since it will give your face a white appearance when taking photos with flash. You don’t want to look like a ghost on your special day.
Concealer- Concealers are also important when hiding imperfections because none of us are perfect. Green concealer neutralizes any redness on your face such like acne. Yellow neutralizes blue which is good to cover the under eye area. Lavender neutralizes any yellowness.
Powder- Some girls like more of a glow or dewy look but in pictures that can look very oily. So always set your foundation with a powder to make it last longer. I prefer using translucent powder to avoid any cakekiness.
Longer Eyelashes- Using falsies is a good way to perk up your own and giving them that glamorous and length you naturally don't have on a daily basis.
Highlighters- If you want a glow to your face, apply a highlighter on the highest points of the cheekbones, inner tear ducts and under the eyebrows. A little goes a long way.
Lips- For the young girls wearing minimal makeup can be more than enough. You don't have to wear tons of makeup to look gorgeous, so wearing a lip stain will be more long lasting since it stains your lips and there is no need to reapply when your dancing the night away.
Mascara- Waterproof mascara! When your in the dance floor the last thing you want is raccon eyes when your're sweating. If the makeup is for your wedding this is crucial when all the crying happens.
Setting Primers- Last but definitely not least, setting primers will set your makeup in place and will make it last longer. It really does help!
