Special Ocassion

Any special ocassion like a homecoming or wedding is important for any women. You want to make sure you do your makeup to where it lasts all day.

If you're palnning on doing your own makeup be sure to have everyhting ready and use products you've used before because the last thing you need is to experiment with products you've never used before. So here are some tips on how to choose the right makeup for your special day and what products you should stay away from.

Primers-This is one of the most important steps if you want to keep your makeup lasting all day. A face primer prepares the skin before applying foundation.  It fills in wrinkles and pores and makes your makeup last all day. Eyeshadow primers for a special ocassion I think is a must to prevent it from falling off or creasing.

Foundation- Choosing the right foundation for your skin can be a bit stressful. One thing to remember when choosing a foundation is to know what your skin undertone is. Undertone is basically the underlying tone of your skin which never changes. To find out what undertone you are, do an easy test. One of the things I was taught while in cosmetology school was to try on silver and gold jewelry. If you think you look better in gold jewelry that means you have a warm undertone and a foundation with a yellow hue. If you look better in silver that means your undertone is cool and a foundation with a pink hue will look better on you.  If both silver and gold looks good on you that means you have a neutral undertone and you can wear a foundation with pink and yellow.

Don't forget to test your makeup in artificial and natural lighting. Because you want to look good at all times in all the picture taking. Also, believe it or not avoid any products with SPF since it will give your face a white appearance when taking photos with flash. You don’t want to look like a ghost on your special day.

Concealer- Concealers are also important when hiding imperfections because none of us are perfect. Green concealer neutralizes any redness on your face such like acne. Yellow neutralizes blue which is good to cover the under eye area. Lavender neutralizes any yellowness.

Powder- Some girls like more of a glow or dewy look but in pictures that can look very oily. So always set your foundation with a powder to make it last longer. I prefer using translucent powder to avoid any cakekiness.

Longer Eyelashes- Using falsies is a good way to perk up your own and giving them that glamorous and length you naturally don't have on a daily basis.

Highlighters- If you want a glow to your face, apply a highlighter on the highest points of the cheekbones, inner tear ducts and under the eyebrows. A little goes a long way.

Lips- For the young girls wearing minimal makeup can be more than enough. You don't have to wear tons of makeup to look gorgeous, so wearing a lip stain will be more long lasting since it stains your lips and there is no need to reapply when your dancing the night away.

Mascara- Waterproof mascara! When your in the dance floor the last thing you want is raccon eyes when your're sweating. If the makeup is for your wedding this is crucial when all the crying happens.

Setting Primers- Last but definitely not least, setting primers will set your makeup in place and will make it last longer. It really does help!

Oxblood Alert

So you've seen it in the runways and magazines. One of the top colors for this fall 2012 will be oxblood. Don't let the name scare you from trying this color- it's just a new name for burgundy, a rich dark red that's bold yet classic and easy to wear. So go out and add this fabulous color to your wardrobe for this season. This color can also be incorporated in your makeup. If you haven't notice the biggest trend for fall has always been the darker Merlot red lips. Thanks for stopping by and until next time guys.

I recently have changed my hair color to a range red color and loving it. I like to keep things more neutral for work but outside of work I like to play up my makeup that will bring out the red tones in my hair. So don't be afraid to play with makeup just because your hair color is a bit bright that just makes you more sassy.

1. Do wear RED lipstick

2. Tinted moisturizer or beauty balm

3. Pop of color with minimal lip

4. Pink lips

5. Cat eyes

6. Blushed cheeks

7. Jewel tone eye makeup

8. Plum eye makeup

9. Smokey eye makeup

10. Vampy lips

Beautiful Day

Let's appreciate what's around us and the people around us because others are not as fortunate :)

How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes

I know from time to time we tend to forget about our makeup brushes. We make sure our face is squeaky clean and all but forget about our makeup tools. The thing is that cleaning and disinfecting our makeup brushes is just as important since that could be the reason why our face might be breaking out. I have a video posted showing you how I clean them. Feel free to watch it. Enjoy :)

Vitamins For Women

I know a lot of women take a multivitamins as their vitamin intake, the real question is which vitamins are the most important ones and which should you be taking on a daily basis?

I personally don't take multivitamins but they are good since they have a little of everytHing. Multivitamins contain:

VITAMIN A- for healthy vision and skin

VITAMIN B- for a metabolism booster

VITAMIN C– keeps your immune system strong for the flu seasons

VITAMIN D– promotes healthy bones

VITAMIN Efor healthy development of muscles and brain function

I personally take only Vitamin D, B12 and Hair, Skin & Nails vitamins every night before bed. Now I'm not saying that this is what you need to take but per my doctors orders I was low deficiency in Vitamin D and he also recommended B12 for lack of energy that I was lacking. As for the Hair Skin & Nails I just take for more healthier hair, skin and nails of course. I also drink a bunch of Green Tea pretty much every morning to replace coffee. Let me know what your vitamin intake or which vitamins you think are the most important ones. I might actually look into maybe taking some multivitamins gummies instead.

Aged to Perfection...Hand Care

I know many of us forget about taking care of our hands. I know I do sometimes and tend to be all about my skin. The truth is that our hands are exposed to the sun and extreme temperatures all year long. Did you know that by age 30 our skin cells decreases by 10%? Believe it or not but the top of your hands can show signs of aging first. In this post I will be giving you tips  on how to keep your hands looking healthy and youthful.

I tend to over wash my hands a ton due to the antibacterial soap I use on a daily basis. I was once told that Dove Bar contains moisturizers that leave your skin soft and silky. I don't always follow my own advice though. When washing your hands try to run your hands under cold water instead of hot water because that can dry up your hands even more.

Once you start to get older you will notice that your hands and nails become more dry overtime as well as yellowing. That is, because with age we tend to produce less oil. That's when you should reconsider applying hand cream daily.

My routine at night or even through the day consists of two items and a homemade hand scrub from time to time.

When I'm going to treat myself to a hand spa. I take what I have in my kitchen, a bit of sugar with olive oil and mix it together. I scrub it all over my hands until the sugar dissolves. I then clean my hands off with a washcloth soaked in cold water to take off the remaining scrub.

After the whole routine, it is time for bed but before I dream of lambs and ponies I apply my Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream all around my cuticles.

I then apply some Aquaphor Healing Ointment all over my hands. I promise you that you will wake up with the softest hands in the morning and you won't regret it.

Hair To Dye For

Just yesterday I changed my haircolor to red. This has been a long time coming experimentation since I saw a Bebe ad on a magazine. Till this day I have the two page cut offs that I saw a year ago. It has been a process. I first bleached my hair and got it to a blonde color and decided to keep it blonde for awhile, but after much time I finally DID IT! I'm very happy with it! I know this might not be everybody's first choice of color but honestly I'm going to only be young once and I want to look back and be able to be happy for at least trying it. Pictures below are my inspiration behind the color I'm rocking now and I will be posting pictures soon for you all to see :)

Just For Kicks

So, I've been in the search for some new running buddies. I currently own some Reebok that I need to replace. I decided to go with Nike because I've heard so many good things about their sneakers.

I haven't been so athletic since I was in Junior High. I really want to get back in the habit of being a runner how I used to because running has always been very calming to me.

Anyways moving on...I've been eyeing the Nike Free Run 3 and love them. I tried on a few at a local shoe store but haven't found a color that I really like. After all sneakers are an investment for your feet :) Instead I decided to customize my own online and came up with a few that I think I like, but I'm still very undecided. This is were ya'll come in. Help me choose and let me know which ones you think would be cute.
