The Ugly Truth About Your Oral Hygiene

First of all I wanted to apologize for being away from my blog. I have been extremely busy with work lately, but today I wanted to take the time to talk about our oral hygiene. Do you know what's lurking in the air and the germs that linger over to your toothbrush. Your toothbrush is loaded with germs, studies say that uncovered toothbrushes can harbor 100 million bacteria, including E coli bacteria and "staph".
Now, our mouth was not sterile to begin with, most bathrooms are small and the toilet is pretty close to your sink where you keep your toothbrush. Did you know that every toilet sends a spray of bacteria into the air.
TIPS:
♥ Rinse your toothbrush thoroughly with tap water
♥ Keep it dry
♥ Keep it upright
♥ Keep it to yourself of course, no sharing or putting it to close to another one can transfer bacteria
I personally use a Steripod ($3.99) to keep germs away. Steripod is a clip-on toothbrush sanitizer that kills germs up to three months. What I love about it is that it does not have any cables or requires batteries. Check out their website to get yours. You can also find it in my drugstores as well.

The second thing I wanted to bring up was using a tongue cleaner. There is a few good benefits in why you should use one on a daily basis.
TONGUE CLEANER TIPS:
♥ Better breath
♥ Removes ama which is a toxic byproduct of improperly digested food
♥ did you know that your tongue is a diagnostic tool, it tells you a lot about your health
♥  It is good for your teeth, because tongue scraping gets rid of nasty stuff in your mouth
♥ You will taste flavors more effectively, proper digestion begins with proper taste and salivation
The one I use is from CVS which is Orabrush Tongue Cleaner  ($5.99)

Sunscreens For When Soaking In The Sun

A few years ago, choosing a great sunscreen meant just looking for a good SPF, now is not as simple as it used to be. Sunscreens help shield you from the sun's dangerous UV rays. Did you know that some work by reflecting the light from your face and body. Others absorb the UV rays before they reach your skin.

So, if you are wondering what to wear this summer get the facts before you purchase your next sunscreen. Now with all this being said, there are several sunscreens out in the market for every skin type. If you are interested in more detailed information from each sunscreen go over to Shape Magazine for their post :)

The Sweet Fruits Of Summer

I have been trying to eat clean lately and let me tell you it has been the hardest thing to do! Of course when we think of fruit we think we can indulge in abundance because is "healthy" and it is but it also needs to be consumed in moderation. Why? Fruit calories are made up of carbohydrates, some proteins and very little fat. Fruits contain natural sugar fructose, but when you are trying to eat healthier all natural sugars also need to be eaten with moderation since they do contain healthy nutrients: antioxidants, vitamins and fiber.

So just to keep you in the loop. I will be posting the calorie intake for fruits we eat regularly.

What To Order At Jamba Juice!

I'm at home juice but when you don't have time, Jamba Juice is a great place to stop by for those cravings and healthier options. Down below I will share all my favorites for you all!

Did you know that the "Classic Smoothie" on the menu, you can get a "Make It Light" version that has 1/3 of calories than the original ones. Some of my all time favorites are:
♥ Mango-A-Go-Go
♥ Strawberry Surf Rider
If you want an extra boost you can get the soy protein boost, it adds 30 calories but it will filly you up throughout the day.

If you want a bit of vegetables order the Apples'n'Greens smoothie, which contains one of three veggies. There are others but the taste for me is not so great. The one I mentioned is great ins taste and also contains: veggie juice blend, bananas, peaches, and mango my fave! It is also gluten free and dairy free!
Although the all fruit smoothies have higher calories since is a ll natural sugar, try not to order these too often as too much sugar can be bad. These smoothies are also vegan options. My fave are:
♥Mega Mango
♥Strawberry Whirl
These particular smoothies contain a boost called Balance, which contain fourteen vitamins and minerals, protein, and fiber. One of the best options is the Peach mango, which contains a Lean Advantage boost! The smoothie contains nothing except the boosts, peaches, mangos, and soy milk!
Now for the fun food! Jamba also has some really healthy food options for you to choose from! My favorites are:
♥Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
♥ Chicken Bistro Panini
♥ Spinach Breakfast Wrap
♥ Turkey Sausage Breakfast Wrap

What is good about these wraps is you can make them a meal by pairing them with a small smoothie.
