Combat Winter...Brr

Winter is around the corner and you should pledge and I don't mean "Pledge Allegiance to the Flag" but pledging to winter defenses. Many times I let my face get dry and let my lips get chapped. Due to us being busy we have to pledge to not let that happen because before you know it your lips are chapped and your skin is dry. Then you have to spend the next month trying to turn it around, but the heavy emollient creams strong enough to tackle the dry cause break outs. So pledge with me ladies.

1. When taking a shower DO NOT take hot showers but warm ones.
2. Apply body moisturizer all over the body, and I mean elbows, back, legs, toes, and arms. Also don't forget to apply moisturizing night cream no matter how tired you are. I recommend applying a primer over it. I know it sounds silly but it will keep all the products and lets them absorb into your skin so it doesn't rub off while you sleep.
3. Do wear sunscreen if you're planning on doing any winter outdoor activities.
4. Apply and reapply lip balm throughout the day to prevent chapped lips this winter. My favorite is: eos you can find it at Wal-mart
5. Throughout the day apply hydrating mist to keep your face looking fresh and carry it with you in your purse. My favorite is: Hope Springs Eternal Deep Sea Hydrating Mist.
6. Avoid any harsh facial scrubs this winter.
7. Do drink plenty of water, which by the way I need to take my own advice on this since I'm guilty of being a caffeine addict.
8. One that I'm guilty of doing also, don't blow the car heater onto your face. Sigh.

Now if you're like me and your lips are chapped often. Try my DIY lip scrub.

You Will Need:
♥ Sugar
♥ Honey
♥ Olive oil/lip balm

Mix the sugar and honey together to create a paste and thickly coat your lips.  Leave it on for a minute or so then start gently scrubbing with your finger until all the dead skin is gone. Then dab on olive oil or lip balm to moisturize. Voila!

Also what you might want to use this winter is Vaseline. I posted this on a recent post on women's must haves. Believe it or not Vaseline can...

1. Moisturize lips all day.
2. Give you glossy eyes. Dab a small amount over shadow or just on a bare lid for some shine.
3. It protects skin from staining when coloring hair.
4. Sooth dry skin around the nose during those bad colds and runny nose and I promise it won't sting like those other creams.
5. Use it around your cuticles to nourish them.
6. Dab a tiny bit on cheekbones for a glowing look.
7. Smooth up dry feet around the winter time. Apply it all over your feet and wear socks overnight and wake up with smooth feet.
8. Mix in the petroleum jelly with kool-aid in a small container and there you have it a flavored lip balm.

Must Haves For Men & Women

It's obvious that women have to do a lot more to look great and keep up with trends unlike men don't need to do as much?

MEN'S MUST HAVES: This will stick out to women and would make you more approachable

1. Have a grown-up signature drink and nothing with too many girly ingredients because that is not attractive, it would only make you look high maintenance.
2. Shoes and not just any. A guy should own at least one pair of nice slack shoes and a pair of Chuck Taylors. I recommend replacing them every year because stinky and used up sneakers is not attractive.

3. Own a nice pea coat and I recommend going safe with a solid black. It's more of a classic.

4. Have a signature cologne. Please don't overdo it either, wear very little of it. We want to remember the person wearing it not the cologne wearing you.
5. Please invest in a good skincare and I don't mean night creams and eye treatments. A good cleanser, toner and moisturizer will do. A good hair product and a comb would do for your medicine cabinet and when a girl sees it, she knows you take care of yourself can I say brownie points.
6. The last but not least a pair of dark straight leg jeans. It is a must have in any wardrobe. NO embellishments on the pocket and by that I mean NONE porfavor.
WOMEN'S MUST HAVES: Every woman should have some of these items in her wardrobe it will be a sin if not...

1. Little black dress can be worn casually or you can glam it up for a night out or even an interview.
2. Black blazer is a must have. Blazers have been IN for awhile now and the same goes for the blazer it can be dressed down or be worn out on the town with the right accessories.
3. Vaseline! From Hollywood celebrities to moms this product can remove makeup, protect skin, moisturize, prevent stains on your teeth, and help with chapped lips.
4. A pair of denim jeans and white t-shirt to complete the whole wardrobe.

If you have more tips that I left out feel free to post comments down below.

Get Over the Guy You Can't Get Over

I recently had been through a breakup and who hasn't. It can be really nasty or it could be a neutral breakup either way we all have that one person you can’t quite forget. Maybe he’s from a 1 year ago; maybe he’s from 5 minutes ago. Either way, move on and yes, it's possible, while the heart may be broken you WILL survive!

1. Cut off ALL contact from text messages, phone calls, facebook and twitter. I know this is hard, but having a clean and total breakup is needed. This part allows you to get over the breakup and start healing. If you were the one doing the dumping, DON'T guilt call! This is a very common women impulse and this would only give the ex hopes. If it's meant to be he will come back if not move on...

2. Weep it's okay. This is part of the recovery and putting up a front would only bite you in the butt later on and ACCEPT IT! Experts say that women tend to go by "breakup rituals" mani and pedis, girl's night outs and they work for awhile but at some point the tears will come. Experts claim after two weeks the misery passes and it's time to move on...

3.  Don't sleep with the enemy...hehe we're human I know, we get lonely and miserable but DON'T DO IT! When a woman has an orgasm, the hormone oxytocin is released, which causes a feeling of attachment, that could explain the "I Love You" DON'T DO IT!

4. Think WHAT went wrong and right and for this you will need a good friend and do LOOK for patterns so the love history doesn't repeats itself. Talk about the positive but that doesn't mean talk about it so much that you start missing him.

5. Put yourself FIRST and do what makes you feel good. Do all those things you've yet done. Run the darn marathon if that makes you happy.

6. We're all different. We all deal with breakups differently. Maybe you're the one on the couch eating ice cream, maybe you change your look, you go shopping, watch movies were couples get killed, you go out and party and get wasted and the list goes on. I tend to be the one talking to myself in the car talking very angrily at the other person "Casper". Whatever it is don't be ashamed is part of life. Like my second mother (Pat) says "God puts people in our lives and takes them away for a reason"

7. Move on, experts say that you have to get right back out there. I personally don't date I usually jump into relationships right away. Maybe that's my problem : / but going through the motions can possibly get you the idea of someone new. Remember this "Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional. The heart may have been made to be broken, but also to heal." I love this quote.

Hair Loss Tips

Your diet and eating habits could potentially cause hair loss. Typical western diets do not have the nutrients. That’s one of the main reasons why hair loss is so common in western society and rare in eastern regions.

There are many reasons for hair loss and some causes are:

♥ Heredity
♥ Stress
♥ Improper Hair Care- Having tight braids or ponytails can stress the hair around the hairline.
♥ Age
♥ Disease- Syphilis, Diabetes and Cancer can cause hair loss.
♥ Ringworm- This is seen more in children than actually in adults and very rare.
♥ Poor Nutrition
♥ Hormones- Menstrual cycles, birth control pills and birth. When a woman becomes pregnant, her body produces more estrogen than usual. This estrogen locks the hair into the growth phase allowing the hair to grow. After delivery, these hormones gradually return to their pre-pregnancy state and the hairs start going into the resting and shedding phases of the hair growth cycle.
♥ Medication

Taking supplements can help our body with particular minerals, for healthy hair minerals we need are:

♥ Zinc- This mineral helps keep your hair oily and helps with dandruff. Too much of this mineral can block exertion of other minerals. Foods that contain zinc are: chickpeas, almonds and lima beans.
♥ Iron- I suggest taking iron supplements, but foods that contain iron are: red meat, tuna, and asparagus.
♥ Silica- Whole wheat contains this mineral.
♥ Iodine- I don't mean iodized salt; too much iodine can cause more hair loss. Foods that contain iodine are: cow's milk, low fat yogurt, strawberries and boiled eggs.

I personally forget to eat healthy I am guilty to say I eat out a lot. I suggest taking prenatal pills even if your're not with child. This supplement contains numerous vitamins and minerals.

Perfect Eyebrows

I have very sparse eyebrows and it really makes a difference to me when I fill them in because brows are what shape your face. Even if you were blessed with thick brows I believe every women needs to groom their brows as part of their beauty routine. If like most women, you were born with sparse brows or simply went too far with the tweezers, there is a fix to filling in your brows. All it takes is a pencil, eye shadow, and an angled brush and clear brow gel.

Pencils and powders stick to skin, not to hair, so if you don't have a lot of hair you'll want to shade in the skin where hair grows. Selecting a soft pencil ,which is a shade lighter than your brows and a powder, which matches the color of brows. If brows are super fair, choose a pencil that's a shade darker than your brows. Use the pencil to fill in the sparse spots with short strokes. Don't create a definite line. Be careful not to pencil in the entire brow, which will result in an unnatural look.

Then dip an angled brush in eye shadow. Brush the powder along the brows. You can also try two colors when filling in brows or use the eye shadow to shade the tail ends.

After all that is time to set brows to keep brows in place. I used to sprit hairspray on my finger and brush onto the brow, but you can also try brow gel to keep them in place.

It’s important to sculpt your brows according to your unique facial proportions. You have to take your bone structure and features into account when arching your brows.  The three lines indicate the beginning of your brow, the highest point of your arch, and the end of your brow. Use the guidelines below to customize your brows based on the proportions of your face.

Before filling in brows

After filling in brows

Products I use:

Maybelline- Define-A-Brow in Light Blonde, NYX- Eyebrow Shaper, M.A.C Eye Shadow- Charcoal Brown Matte and 208 angled brush and M.A.C- Brow Set in Clear

How To Paint Nails Properly...

I know a lot of you already know how to paint nails properly but this is for the girls that need to know where to begin. Have you noticed that sometimes your laquer chips off quickly or you see bubbles. Many put on too many coats or maybe the laquer has lost it's life. Hope this helps many and keep the word spreading.

Regrowing Damaged Hair

Healthy long hair requires a lot of care but repairing damaged hair takes time. Applying chemicals and heat to the hair can be impossible for the hair to be healthy. With some tips and little care you can achieve beautiful locks.

1. Eat healthy because an unhealthy diet can make a big difference in the nutrients you carry. Avoid caffeine, smoking and etc. and DO eat foods high in proteins by eating plenty of meats like turkey, tuna and salmon, as well as eggs, dairy and nuts. Also taking supplements with B-complex, folic acid, vitamin E and zinc fights deficiencies and helps the hair grow.

2. Avoid any heat on your hair. Blow-drying, using hot water, and using hot tools can cause stress on your hair. I suggest when you are done showering to turn the water as cold as you can stand it and rinse your hair in it. This closes up the hair shaft making it less prone to damage. I know this might not be ideal to do but trust me a few seconds won't hurt and it will be well worth it.

3. Being gentle to the hair when combing/brushing it.

4. Massage the scalp; massaging stimulates the blood circulation to the hair follicles promoting hair growth.

5. Using protein-based products to repair the damage. Although I do recommend using protein-based products using too much of it can be bad, it is like taking too much of a certain supplement. I suggest shampooing with a protein-based shampoo every other day to help not to overdo it. My favorite protein based shampoos are:

S Factor-Health Factor

♥ Cleansing factor: Light/Moderate
♥ Conditions & revitalizes
♥ Strengthens & promotes healthy hair
♥ Promotes shine & moisture

Bead Head- Dumb Blonde

♥ Clease factor: Light
♥ Intensive treatment for hair that is over-processed
♥ Enviromentally/chemically (50% highlighted w/ no low lights)
♥ Helps protect and retain hair color

6. Do oil treatments. I highly recommend using coconut oil, avocados, olive oil and even mayonnaise. They are high in saturated fat that penetrates deep into the hair cuticle. Apply the treatment by massaging it in and leave it on for 15 to 30 minutes depending on how dry the hair is. You can also use a shower cap to help the treatment not to drip. Once it has set shampoo at least twice to get all the oil out of your hair. Apply a leave-in conditioner. My favorite leave-in conditioners are:

S Factor- Papaya Leave-in Conditioner

♥ Conditioning factor: Light/moderate
♥ Provides intense nourishment w/ moisture and vitamins

Bed Head- Ego Boost Leave-in Conditioner

♥ Conditioning factor: Light/moderate
♥ Smoothes and mends split ends

It's a 10 Miracle Leave-in Product

♥ Repairs dry damaged hair
♥ Adds shine
♥ Smoothes & controls frizz
♥ Seals & protects hair color
♥ Flat iron spray & thermal protector
♥ Detangles
♥ Stops hair breakage
♥ Creates silkiness
♥ Enhances natural body
♥ Prevents split ends

This is what the mixing of avocado, mayonnaise, and olive oil looks like after being all mixed. I know it looks gross and it has a strong smell but all the proteins in them are good for the hair.

7. Avoid shampooing your hair often maybe doing it every other day or longer. Remember shampoo is very drying to the hair so the less is better. Try an alternative and maybe turn to using a dry-shampoo. It is very easy to use and helps minimize the oils in the hair. My favorite over the counter dry shampoo is:

Tresseme Dry Shampoo

♥ Transforms limp, lifeless locks into healthy, full-bodied hair when you skip a shampoo. The Mineral Clay and Citrus formula removes oil and odor that weighs hair down, so you can have instant salon-quality volume without a drop of water.

8. I know this will sound silly but putting your hair up in braids or buns helps the ends to be protected and is moisturizing for your hair. Keep in mind that a lot of manipulation can cause stress on the hair so take it easy. Here are some styles, which by the way this is my hair; I've changed my hair color many times. I'm a cosmetologist I get bored what can I say.

Messy bun

Braided updo

9. Trimming your hair helps out too. I do believe that if you take good care of your hair there is no need for a trim as often, but if you see split ends in your hair like for example .5 cm split cutting 1 to 2 inches is not helping you keep length. Keep in mind that hair grows about 1 to 2 inches a month. Now if your hair is damaged, going in for a trim every 4 to 6 weeks would be helpful.

Brazilian Wax Tips

I went in for my usual appointment and I realized many women and men do not think on the prepping and after care for a Brazilian waxing. So I decided to make a post informing others about the procedures that should be done to have that perfect Brazilian. A lot of women and men opt for waxing services because they like the feeling of the entire bikini area being totally, or almost hair-free. While you need to be cautious any time you remove hair, it should be treated with extra care and why is that? Well a lot of people do not know that just because you're going through the process of waxing there is still prepareness you have to do to the skin.

Prep the skin before waxing:
♥ Cleanliness is a must
♥ Try not to use any lotions or sprays around the area
♥ You may take aspirin to prevent any pain

Post waxing care:
♥ Try not to wear any tight undergarmets
♥ Hands off the area because that could cause irritation or small pimples
♥ Believe it or not but having sexual intercourse should be avoided for at least 24-48 hours
♥ Avoid hot baths or tanning
♥ EXFOLIATE this is one of the biggest things you should do. Exfoliate for two full days later and then after that just exfoliate maybe every other day. Exfoliating too much is not recommended but it is necessary to let the root of the hair come out to prevent any bumps. I highly recommend a exfoliating bath glove or a Ayate washcloth.

♥ If you get any ingrown hairs try Tend Skin, I've heard many good things to get rid of pesky ingrown hairs. I also noticed that my waxer uses this product when I go in for my appointment

The procedure for anybody that is getting it done for the first time can be quite painful but with time that procedure will be like second nature. Keep in mind that once the waxing is complete, the waxer will tweeze any stray hairs. The downside of a Brazilian wax that while it lasts 3-6 weeks, the hair will grow back but it will be finer and lighter.

Christmas Wishlist...

With the holidays soon approaching I've decided to make my wishlist. I know I probably won't get everything I ask for but a girl can dream.

First off what girl is not obsessed with Victoria's Secret? I love their pajama styles this year and one of my favorites I've seen so far is the after hours Satin Pajama in Snow Leopard, it is to die for. My second option is their comfy Fireside Thermal Long Jane Pajama in Pink/Red Metallic but an H&M or Victoria's Secret Gift card you can never go wrong with.

Sex and the City the complete series this is like a guy asking for the complete series for Star Wars...blah but I also enjoyed Dinosaurs as a little girl and they have released their complete series as well. The next items which are perfumes (sigh) how I love the smell of both these perfumes, Versace Bright Crystal and Armani Code.

I have been dying to purchase the Invicta Goldtone watch but it is way too expensive so a similar one to it is the Guess Goldtone watch. A few months ago I came across a website where you can purchase your own name necklace. I had one as a little girl and I remember losing it and ever since I have never replaced it. For shoes I would love to own the UGG boots but they are way too expensive but I've found some similar ones to the UGG which are the Arizona Cascade boots from JcPenney and way more affordable. Lastly the cream crochet lace Toms. They look so comfortable and are girly as well.

Bath and Body works have the best candles ever, at least I think so. My favorites are Frosted Cupcake, Gingerbread, Mint Chocolate and Twisted Peppermint.

I found the most adorable girly trench coat that every girl should own. A trench coat is a must and I think this one is a good addition to any women's wardrobe.
